OVERVIEW

Learning That Prepares Students for Life

At Templeton Academy, we believe education should prepare students for life—not just for tests. Our innovative academic approach blends rigorous content knowledge with the development of essential skills and personal purpose.

The Templeton Approach in Action

Core Advisory

Students recognize their unique gifts, develop essential skills, and build supportive communities.

Project-Based Learning

Authentic challenges with real-world relevance and public exhibitions of learning.

Fieldwork

Weekly excursions connecting classroom concepts to real-world applications.

Extended Learning Blocks

Unlike traditional 45-minute periods that fragment learning, our students engage in just two academic blocks each day, each lasting 2 hours and 20 minutes. This structure allows for:

  • Depth over breadth - Time to explore topics thoroughly
  • Authentic project work - Sustained focus on complex challenges
  • Seamless field experiences - Learning beyond classroom walls
  • Integrated subjects - Breaking down artificial barriers between disciplines

How We Learn

Core Advisory

Core Advisory

Beyond academics, students need to understand themselves and their purpose. Our Core Advisory program helps students recognize their unique gifts and potential contributions, develop essential "soft skills" like empathy, resilience, and time management, set meaningful personal and academic goals, and build a supportive community with peers and mentors.

Project-Based Learning

Project-Based Learning

Our academic courses emphasize learning by doing through authentic, challenging projects with real-world relevance, collaborative problem-solving that mirrors professional environments, student voice and choice in demonstrating mastery, and exhibition events where students present their learning to authentic audiences.

Fieldwork

Fieldwork

Learning extends far beyond our campus walls through weekly Fieldworks connecting classroom concepts to community contexts, partnerships with local organizations and experts, hands-on experiences at museums, businesses, government sites, natural spaces, and service learning that addresses community needs.
