Humanities Block

Our middle school humanities teachers guide students through 2-hour blocks combining English and History. This integrated approach allows for:

  • Deep exploration of literary texts from diverse periods
  • Analysis of historical events and their contemporary relevance
  • Development of strong communication skills across multiple media
  • Cross-curricular projects connecting language arts with social studies

STEM Block

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math come alive in our hands-on STEM block where students:

  • Conduct experiments applying scientific concepts
  • Explore mathematical principles through real-world problems
  • Develop technology skills integrated with content learning
  • Build engineering mindsets through design challenges

Subject Areas

Humanities

English Language Arts: Students analyze literature from diverse perspectives, interpret informational texts, and create meaningful written and multimedia content. Through novels, poetry, plays, and non-fiction, they develop critical reading strategies and effective communication skills.

History & Social Studies: From ancient civilizations to current events, students explore how societies develop and change over time. They learn to analyze primary sources, evaluate evidence, and understand complex social, economic, and political relationships.

STEM

Mathematics: Our math program builds problem-solving abilities through work with rational numbers, equations, data analysis, probability, and statistics. Students develop mathematical reasoning and communication skills through real-world applications.

Science: Students explore core concepts in biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science through hands-on investigation. They develop scientific literacy by designing experiments, analyzing data, and connecting scientific principles to technology and environmental challenges.

Foreign Language

Students choose from Spanish, French, or Mandarin, with curriculum focusing on both language acquisition and cultural understanding. All language programs follow the same core structure, ensuring consistent skill development regardless of language choice.

Arts & Wellness

Students rotate through visual arts, performing arts, wellness, and exploratory courses that allow them to discover new interests and develop existing passions.
