MIDDLE SCHOOL

Cultivating Curiosity, Building Foundations

Our middle school curriculum (grades 5-8) integrates academic rigor with real-world relevance. By connecting core content to current events and student interests, we make learning meaningful and applicable.

Students develop essential skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and planning while exploring leadership, creative thinking, public speaking, and civic engagement. This comprehensive approach prepares students not just for academic success, but for life beyond the classroom.

Schedule a Tour

Project-Based Approach

Every week, teachers create innovative lesson plans that include:

Weekly excursions connecting classroom concepts to the community

Major quarterly projects (approximately 20 hours of work)

"FriYay!" cross-curricular activities that tackle real-world challenges

Collaborative experiences that develop teamwork and communication

Extended Learning Blocks

The traditional fragmented school day gives way to our innovative schedule with extended learning blocks:

Our middle school humanities teachers guide students through 135-minute blocks combining English and History. This integrated approach allows for:

  • Deep exploration of literary texts from diverse periods

  • Development of strong communication skills across multiple media
  • Cross-curricular projects connecting language arts with social studies

STEM Block

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math come alive in our hands-on STEM block where students:

  • Conduct experiments applying scientific concepts
  • Explore mathematical principles through real-world problems
  • Develop technology skills integrated with content learning
  • Build engineering mindsets through design challenges

Additional Curriculum

Foreign Language

Students have the benefit of a rotating suite of offered languages; past a current offerings include Spanish, French, German, and American Sign Language. All language programs follow the same core structure, ensuring consistent skill development regardless of language choice.

Arts & Exploratory

Students rotate through visual arts, performing arts, and exploratory courses that allow them to discover new interests and develop existing passions. Our approach to exploratory learning centers on three essential questions:

What do you already know and what do you want to know?

What do you already know how to do and what do you want to know how to do?

What have you already become and what do you want to become in the future?

Student Experience

  • Develop effective learning strategies and independence
  • Build strong executive functioning skills
  • Explore interests through diverse experiences
  • Form meaningful relationships with peers and mentors
  • Begin discovering their unique gifts and purpose

The result is confident, curious learners who transition to high school with strong academic foundations and essential life skills.
